Driver's Education In
Cherokee, NCTest Date-November 5th at 4:00pm at Cherokee High School.
Class options available
- 200 exemption test-A one time test that you must score 70 or above to pass. This test exempts you from taking the 30 hour class. If you fail, you must take the 30 hour class.
- 30 hour virtual class for anyone who doesn’t want to take the exemption test or if you fail the exemption test-Information on the class can be found under the 30 hour virtual class tab. REGISTRATION FOR THE 30 HOUR CLASS WILL OPEN ON OCTOBER 1ST.
Things you MUST bring on test day
-RIP form printed off and signed
-School issued chromebook/Homeschool students can bring your own device.
-Read aloud students do not need to come to the test. Please email wncdriving51@gmail.com
NCDOT Requirements For
Students living in Cherokee, NC
To be eligible to register for a class session, you must be 14 years and 6 months old by the first day of class.
NC requires students under the age of 18
- to be actively seeking a high school diploma and be a resident of NC
- to complete a 30-hour driver education class
- to complete 6 hours of in-car instruction with a certified licensed instructor
- Schools may charge up to $65 for drivers education.
