Any student living in Cherokee, NC between the ages of 14 years and 6 months and 17 years old will register at Cherokee High School.


Drivers Ed Exemption Test is on February 9, 2023 after school.

Students living in Cherokee, NC

To be eligible to register for a class session, you must be 14 years and 6 months old by the first day of class.

NC requires students under the age of 18

  • to be actively seeking a high school diploma and be a resident of NC
  • to complete a 30-hour driver education class
  • to complete 6 hours of in-car instruction with a certified licensed instructor
  • Schools may charge up to $65 for drivers education.
