WNC Driving School, LLC is a private driving school licensed through the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. We provide comprehensive behind the wheel and classroom instruction to local schools as well as private instruction. Our instructors are licensed professionals and are highly qualified and experienced in teaching drivers education.

Registration Information

Students in NC must be 14 years and 6 months of age before beginning a driver education program.

Private Instruction

If you are 18 years of age and over or a new driver needing additional driving lessons, you will need to contact WNC Driving School directly at 828-342-6051.

NC Requirements

  • Students must be actively seeking a high school diploma and be a resident of NC.
  • NC requires students under the age of 18 to complete a 30-hour driver education class and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction with a certified licensed instructor.
  • Schools may charge up to $65 for drivers education.
  • Contract parents must sign for private driving lessons.

How do I register?
The registration process depends on your age and the school you attend. If you attend a school serviced by WNC Driving School, you will need to check with the school office for registration and fees. If you are a homeschool student, you will need to contact the high school for your district. If you are a private school student or 18 and over, you will need to contact WNC Driving School directly at 828-342-6051.

After completing drivers ed, how do I get a permit?
